Wen’t to Ballarat over Easter. Saw some Roo’s, went to a garden. Touched a snake. Jealous? You should be.
Gran Prix Qantas Flyover
The F1 Gran Prix was on over the weekend here in Melbourne. While I really wanted to go I didn’t get tickets in time. However I did go down to Elwood in the afternoon before the final race to see the Qantas Boeing 747 fly over the track.
The thing was insanely low and flying pretty slowly as you can see from the image above the flaps are down so essentially close to landing speed I suppose.
I caught this cool photo below as a kid was flying his kite at the reserve I was at.
The jet climbed really steeply and flew off.
Happy Birthday Shoot
Last weekend I drove from Melbourne to Sydney for a week of relaxing and to attend my aunties 50th birthday.
My cousin wanted me to take some relaxed photos of her friend and her to be printed for her mothers birthday so I brought up my flash gear. She was apprehensive about me taking the photos so I set the light and camera up, dialled in the flash and camera settings and gave them the wireless shutter trigger. Left to their own devices they shot out around 230 shots of them being themselves…
I gave them all the shots and they went off to get some printed.
I took photos at the party and my auntie was really pleased with the portrait shots when she received them at the party. I will have to upload any good ones from the party in another post.
Here are some of the ones I really liked and decided to edit a little. I have started using Lightroom which is really good, great workflow.
New Flash Umbrella Setup
I bought a flash stand and a reversible umbrella last week and yesterday tried it out with some very impromptu portraits of myself and my wife.
I used the umbrella as a shoot through at 45 degrees pointing down at the subject but not quite as far to the side as I would like due to the room size. I will do some more experimenting in days to come.
